About the Course
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to take your scuba skills to the next level. It’s a great way to gain more experience, build confidence, and discover new underwater adventures. You’ll work on improving your navigation and buoyancy, explore deeper dive sites with a deep dive, and choose three additional specialty dives that interest you. Think of it as a diving sampler that helps you discover what you enjoy most.
As you complete each specialty dive, you also earn credit toward the full PADI Specialty Diver certifications, making this course both fun and practical. Some popular specialty dive options include Deep Diving, Digital Underwater Photography, Dive Against Debris, Dry Suit Diving, Enriched Air Nitrox, Fish Identification, Night Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search and Recovery, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigation, and Wreck Diving.
Certification Requirements
- Prerequisites - Open Water Diver/Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
- Health - Good physical health
- Age - 12 years or older
- Depth - The maximum depth depends on your age, but maximum depth is up to 30 metres/100 feet
- Time - PADI eLearning: 6-8 hours Entire course: 2-3 days
How to Become an Advanced Open Water Diver
Learn about underwater navigation, deep diving and three types of specialty diving that interest you. After some skill practice with your instructor, you'll make five open water dives. There's no exam because this course is truly about having fun and gaining experience.
